Ambulance

Amb_PictureSkyline operates a 24-Hour ACLS Ambulance at both the White Salmon facility and a satellite station out of Dallesport. The Dallesport facility provides quicker response to that area as well as Lyle, Appleton, Klickitat, and High Prairie.

Skyline Hospital’s newest ambulance arrived on December 13th, 2001. This new emergency vehicle is stocked with the latest in advanced life support systems and equipment. As has been done often in the past, the ambulance that is being replaced will go to one of the area fire districts. Skyline works closely with the local fire districts to assist with First Responder training, equipment and supplies.

Skyline Hospital operates three ambulance vehicles. Due to heavy use, the hospital hopes to rotate out the oldest equipment approximately every two years. Financial woes have made this goal difficult in the past, but with the replacement of the 1984 vehicle the hospital is now up to date.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Levy approved by Hospital District No. 2 voters in 2001 helped make purchase of the new ambulance possible. Replacing an ambulance every two years is necessary to ensure reliable equipment is available when needed, but at a purchase price of over $110,000 per vehicle, it can be a huge burden to already strapped hospital finances. Staying up-to-date with the latest in technology is also costly. Estimated cost of equipment for the new ambulance is an additional $50,000.
